The Art of Autism at Casa Geroux

Currently our home is a gallery of child inspired play- It is hard to deny the creativity, I so wish I could be in Ty’s brain some times so I could SEE what he sees—here is my interpretation of a few of his pieces that are on display today:

I believe this is 3 little “pigs” inside a book house

I think these figurines are lined up to sing heavenly tunes

This one is a moving installation- it has shown up on the coffee table, dinner table, his bedroom floor, the bathroom sink and here on a tub in his brothers room in front of the t.v.

I tend to just sweep all of these things up and place them back in his room as soon as he has left for school, but it occurred to me that one day (coming much sooner rather then later) I will miss this- so I want to keep a virtual gallery. I thought I would share it here with you too. April was Autism Awareness month, and while I recognize the desire by many to find a cure, I am also very acutely aware that others wish only for the world to embrace them.  Have you hugged someone with Autism today? I have.

  1. Thanks for sharing the gallery–I truly enjoyed it—I also sometimes wish I could see into Ty’s mind. He is soooooo creative!

  2. I understand that want SO much – *sniff, sniff*. I wish so much that I could understand what Collin is thinking when his eyes have that far off look in them. Or understand the things he is building. I too have to intentionally stop myself at times and just watch him.
Thank you for putting my thoughts into such well put words.
    Hugs.
